Knock Knock Give a Sock

Knock Knock Give A Sock (KKGS) seeks to simultaneously help raise awareness and humanize the homeless population while ensuring access to a much-needed resource for homeless shelters – socks. After getting directly involved with homeless outreach, founder Adina Lichtman realized that this was a need overlooked by many (herself included) that could be fulfilled by engaging the community, sparking KKGS’s first sock drive among her NYU dorm. KKGS continues to host sock drives within a broad community of public and private partners, including Toyota, Hello Fresh and SWK Technologies among many, many others.

In addition to helping generate communal and corporate sock drives, Knock Knock Give A Sock also hosts a “Meet Your Neighbors Dinner” as part of their two-step awareness model. Partners engage directly with the homeless shelter community during this interaction, breaking down walls and stigmas around homelessness.

What’s New

During SWK’s 2022 One Voice internal conference, the SWK team got a chance to meet Knock Knock Give A Sock and hear the stories of three courageous individuals, Aida, Will, and James, who shared their own personal experience with homelessness. SWK Technologies then held a fundraiser with $10,000 goal for donations from employees which would be matched by the company. SWK surpassed this goal to raise $20,121 in total.

KKGS founder Adina stopped by SWK’s HQ in East Hanover, NJ to meet the team in person and receive KKGS’s check with the total donations.
